The grey steel hull and guns of a historic warship docked in Belfast

While the Titanic gets all the glory, real history buffs know that HMS Caroline is the unsung hero of Belfast's maritime attractions. Located just a short hop from the Titanic Belfast, this Light Cruiser is a time capsule from 1916.

What is special about HMS Caroline?

  • Battle of Jutland Survivor: She is the only surviving ship from the largest naval battle of World War I.
  • Authenticity: Unlike many museum ships, HMS Caroline remains incredibly original. The engine rooms, cabins, and mess deck look largely as they did over 100 years ago.
  • Interactive: The restoration is world-class, with interactive displays that let you crack codes, signal with lamps, and steer the ship.

The Visit

You step aboard the ship itself. It’s an immersive experience. You can:

  • See the Captains Quarters.
  • Visit the Engine Room (smell the oil and machinery!).
  • Watch a film in the Drill Hall.

Combo With Titanic

Since it's in the Titanic Quarter, you can easily do both in one day. Hop off at the main Titanic stop, visit the museum, then walk or hop the bus to HMS Caroline (Alexandra Dock) to finish your maritime journey.
