A vintage view of Belfast City Hall in the 1950s, showing its timeless grandeur

Donegall Square, dominated by the magnificent Belfast City Hall, is the central hub for all Hop-On Hop-Off buses. Before you board, or when you finish, take a trip inside.

The Building

Opened in 1906, it is a masterpiece of Edwardian Baroque architecture, built to reflect Belfast's status as a booming industrial city (thanks to linen and shipbuilding).

Free Guided Tours

Yes, they are free!

  • Times: Usually 3 times a day (check the reception desk).
  • What you see: The red-carpeted grand staircase, the Council Chamber, and the Great Hall. The history of the stained glass windows is fascinating.

The Grounds

The lawns are crowded with office workers having lunch on sunny days.

  • Titanic Memorial Garden: Located on the east side, listing all the names of those lost.
  • The Cenotaph: The city's war memorial.

It is the perfect meeting point and the literal center of the HOHO map.
