A bus passing near the Titanic Studios where Game of Thrones was filmed

Belfast was the production home of HBO's Game of Thrones for a decade. While the castles are out in the countryside, the city center holds plenty of secrets.

Titanic Studios

As the bus drives through the Titanic Quarter, look out for the massive Painthall Studios.

  • Sight: The huge blue/white building.
  • Significance: This is where the Iron Throne room, the Great Sept of Baelor, and Winterfell interiors were built. You can't go inside, but you can see where the magic happened.

The Glass of Thrones Trail

Hop off in the Titanic Quarter to walk this trail. It consists of six giant stained glass windows, each depicting a house or legacy from the show (Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Targaryen, White Walkers, and the Iron Throne).

  • Location: Scattered from City Hall to the Titanic Slipways. Just follow the river!

The Doors of Thrones

Some city center pubs (like The Dark Horse in Cathedral Quarter) have intricately carved wooden doors made from trees of the Dark Hedges that fell during a storm.
