Map of the city highlighting the central Cathedral Quarter area

Most bus tours start and end near the City Hall, just a short walk from the Cathedral Quarter. There is no better place to debrief after a day of sightseeing.

Why it's famous

This is the oldest part of the city, characterized by narrow cobbled entries (alleyways), red brick warehouses turned into bars, and vibrant street art.

Must-Visit Spots

  1. St. Anne's Cathedral: The district's namesake. You can visit inside to see the beautiful mosaics and the Spire of Hope.
  2. Commercial Court: Home to the Duke of York pub. The alleyway itself is an outdoor gallery with red benches, flowers, and murals. It is the Instagram spot of Belfast.
  3. The Harp Bar: For live traditional Irish music and a lively crowd.
  4. MAC (Metropolitan Arts Centre): Contemporary art galleries (free entry) and a great cafe.

The Vibe

It's safe, pedestrian-friendly, and buzzing with energy from 5pm onwards. It's the perfect contrast to the heavy history you might have heard about on the Peace Wall tour.
